Plan in place....July 29, 2008

Not an answer for Brock, but a plan is in place! The Hematologist just called and had a lengthy discussion with me about the plan he has put in place for Brock's issues (can't say diagnosis because we don't have one yet). The blood work that was done a week and a half ago in his office came back and it was similar to the results we had previously (white blood cells and platelets). The other tests he ran came back negative, so we are at least able to cross something else off the list. The doctor suspected these would be negative, but wanted to double check to be safe. Anyway...Dr. Huang has met with another doctor and discussed Brock's symptoms and other test results with her. This doctor seems to think she can figure it all out, but she needs to see Brock when he actually has a fever. There are more tests that she wants to do during this time as well as actually being able to see him sick too. So, the trick now is for him to get the fever during the week when she will be in the office. The nurse and receptionist have already been given instructions to make us an appointment the same day that we call in. If Brock stays on the same fever cycle that he has been on, I expect that he will get a fever sometime between Thursday and Sunday. I am hoping that he gets it on Thursday or Friday and we can take him in. My luck will be that he will get it on Sunday and I leave that day for D.C. I am excited that we have a plan of action for him. I am not happy that there will be more tests in his future, but we knew that was going to happen no matter what. I do feel more comfortable that we know what we have to do when he gets the fever. We are crossing simple things off the list one at a time, which is good. Hopefully we will be able to cross bigger things off in the near future. Now we are just waiting....hoping the fever comes like it has and in a way hoping it doesn't come at all! Hopefully soon we will have firm answers instead of "maybes" and "further testing". ~S
