UTMB Visit and Brock's B-day

We went to UTMB this morning for our follow-up and information on what is next for Brock. The doctor was just as perplexed by him as we are! He doesn't think the steroids we started would have prevented the fever from coming altogether, so he is a little stumped as to what to do. Since Brock has gone 2 months now since his last fever (the longest time span ever), we are kinda in an odd place. The doctor wants us to continue the steroids and call as soon as the fever comes again. Now that his "cycle" is off, we have no idea when it may be.
Additionally, we looked at some previous blood work that had been done. For some reason, Brock's platelets keep going up. On his last CBC, his count was abnormally high again. The doctor had some thoughts on this (that he didn't care to share with me), but said he wanted to talk with some other doctors about it first.
The doctor was nice enough to let Brock off the hook as far as blood work! He wanted to do a few tests, but decided that since it was Brock's birthday, the tests could wait. Brock was thrilled!
After the appointment, I took Brock down to the beach and let him play in the sand to his heart's content. He loved it.....and got incredibly sandy. Then we went to a Catholic church in Galveston for the Ash Wednesday services. This is the first time since the day Brock was born that Ash Wednesday has been on his birthday again. Brock was very well behaved but did think that he looked silly with the ashes on his forehead.
All in all, things are looking good at the moment!
