Interesting Day...January 23, 2009

Brock's Quick Trip to UTMB Today was an interesting day...... We started out with Trace having knee surgery. That went well, thankfully. While he was in recovery, I received a call back from Brock's doctor. We had called him about the sudden bruising that was occurring all over Brock's legs and part of his back. The doctor was quite alarmed and wanted to see him right away. Given that I was still at the hospital with Trace, I couldn't do that. The doctor told me to get him there as soon as I could.....so thats what I did. They looked at all the bruises and were concerned about a few of them. They told me what to look for in the bruises (a certain color and sensitivity) and to alert the doctor if there were ANY changes in the bruises. They said it could be a sign of something else to come or it could be a side effect of the medicine we had started (but the doctor didn't think that was it). While we were there the doctor went ahead and took the blood samples for the Mayo Clinic test and did some other blood work on him. I felt bad for Brock because they had to stick him twice. The first time his little vein just stopped bleeding and they did not have enough for the tests. The second time they got a good vein and we got enough blood for all the tests. So, we are back at home. No new news or any other pertinent pieces of information, but I wanted to update everyone. Brock is happy to be home and wants to choose where we will go eat tomorrow because he feels like it is owed to him now! Can our lives get any more interesting?
