More hospital news...August 30, 2008

More hospital news... We have had a relatively uneventful day. Brock has stayed mostly fever-free today. We have had numerous doctor visits throughout the day. We finally got to see the disease specialist team that we had been waiting on. The doctor basically told us that this was out of his league and he didn't know what to do. He ran through a couple of disorders that he had suspected and then subsequently was able to dismiss them as well. Based on the factors of Brock's issues, we are now being referred to a Molecular Immunologist. They have requested this team of doctors to come consult with us and determine what tests will be pursued at this time. They think that Brock's isses must have an underlying DNA/genetic cause. I feel like this is a good move, but still scary. We are not sure how much longer we will have to stay in the hospital. They were supposed to do a test this evening that would take a few days to get results back, but there was an error and it won't get done until tomorrow now. Brock is very ready to go home. He told me that he wanted to go to sleep at home...not here. I'm a little nervous right now due to the hurricane that is approaching. I don't think we are going to get the full storm here, but probably some rain and winds. Since we are right on the seawall at the hospital, that is very concerning. I have been watching the weather constantly and checking the computer for forecast updates! We will see the new specialist tomorrow and hopefully I will have some more insight or something (anything) regarding Brock. Just give me an answer!!! ~S
