Scary Moment...December 22, 2008
Brock got his routine fever again last night. He had a seizure around 1:00 this morning, all very routine for us these days. He was sleeping with us just to be safe.
Then, this morning he was still running fever, but very low grade. We gave him all his necessary medications and so forth. He seemed to be acting pretty normal still. Then around lunch time he told me he was going to go potty. He went into the hall bathroom, close to the living room and office. I was busy making Christmas fudge and stuff, but was within earshot of him. I could hear him in the bathroom and then suddenly I heard a loud thud. I called his name but did not get a response. I went into the bathroom only to find Brock had fallen off the potty and was facedown on the floor between the potty and the wall. His pants were at his ankles and he was very still. That had to be the scariest moment for me.....seeing him laying there like that. I called 911 and then pulled him out of the place where he had landed. He had a slightly bloody nose and was drooling..still having a seizure. This seizure took quite awhile for him to come out of. It seemed like forever before EMS got here. I was so scared that he had gotten a concussion from the hall (we have ceramic tile in there). The EMS people and a handful of police officers came to check on him. They looked him over and monitored him for awhile. No concussion! We decided not to transport him to the hospital as there is nothing they can do for him at this point.
Funny thing is all Brock wants for Christmas is a toy ambulance! Doesn't he see enough of those? Needless to say he is getting that ambulance!
All is well right now....Brock is sleeping off the effects of the seizure and will be pretty much back to normal in awhile. His fever will hang around for a few more days, but hopefully will be gone in time for Christmas.
